About us
Absent is Lisboa's space for time.
We're building a community for people who want to disconnect from screens
and reconnect with analog ways of being - reading, creating, thinking,
playing, or just being present.
Our space at Rua da Glória 78 is designed to facilitate presence and connected, and equipped with high-quality materials like books, journals, art, supplies, board games, puzzles, and more.
We have partnered with local artist communities and small businesses to host events, workshops and meetups.
What we do:
- Regular open hours for walk-in phone-free time
- Creative workshops and skill-sharing sessions
- Community gatherings and themed events
- Social afternoons and evenings for connection
Everything is phone-free. We provide secure pouches you can unlock anytime at the cafe counter for emergencies.

Quiz night, but not as you know it.Absent's Saturday Social teams up with Shelly & Use[Less] Skills for a trivia evening that blends classic trivia with hands-on discovery.
Expect rounds that challenge your senses, your creativity, and your general knowledge in equal measure.
What to expect in addition to classic trivia elements:
✓ Visual rounds — landmarks, people, animals and more
✓ Sensory challenges — touch, smell, maybe even build
✓ Creative thinking and teamwork
✓ Small but fun prizes. Much bigger bragging rights.

If you just want to try out something new, learn basic embroidery, craft, macrame, it's a good space for that too.What to expect:
- This will be a guided, open-table DIY session for all the projects you’ve been meaning to finish.
- We’ll have experienced hands in the room to help, guide, teach, and encourage. It's a mom that does stitching, embroidery, knits, macrame and a lot more. It’s not a formal workshop.
- Basic materials like needles, frames etc. available but please bring the specific equipment you need for your project.
- Best suited for small, portable projects.
