Have you ever replayed a conversation in your head…and come up with the perfect response three hours later?
Maybe you think you’re “not spontaneous.” Or maybe you just don’t love the idea of looking silly in front of strangers.

Good! Then this workshop is for you.
We’ll dive into the basics of improvisation in a fun, beginner-friendly environment.

No acting experience required, you don't have to force funny voices (unless you want to). We’ll start with small exercises to get comfortable with movement, voice and presence, and to wake up your instincts and connect with the group.

Then we’ll move into playful scene work: short improvised moments in pairs or small groups. practice building on each other’s ideas.
We'll discover how quickly a whole story can appear out of nothing.

Expect collaboration, creative risk-taking and the occasional beautifully awkward moments.

Don't worry about being funny. This is about being present. It’s about thinking less and responding more. About letting go of the need to “get it right.”
Come curious. And we'll do this together.

Hosted by Maria João Almeida (@mariajeene) - A Portuguese actress and creator trained at ACT (Lisbon) and the William Esper Studio (NY). With a strong presence in theatre (Shakespeare, Teatro Soco) and short films (e.g., Sofia), she is also the author of the book Inventário de Nova Iorque and writes the newsletter Lunário Ocasional.
