About us

Ready for inspiring visions of radical abundance for everyone?

I’m looking for like-minded people in Oslo and the surrounding region to join or help build an inclusive space for discussing “abundance”-related topics including AI, clean energy, industrial capacity, etc. Maybe one could define one dimension of the emerging abundance conversation as expanding what's possible, through science, reason, technology, free markets, etc, instead of being caught in a negative sum game of rationing or fighting over scarce resources? For example, in certain parts of the world instead of fighting over scarce water resources, we can deploy desalination (removing the salt from sea water) powered by cheap solar energy to create abundance where there was scarcity.

I’m not a tech expert or a professional, just an enthusiast looking for a social venue to share motivating visions for Norway, Europe and humanity. It would be cool if we could make this a non-partisan space where people from all sides of the political spectrum feel welcome, and where all kinds of ideas, even strange and controversial ones, can be discussed with intellectual humility and empathy for others.

Help shape this group: Since this is a new initiative, input is highly appreciated, like suggestions for specific topics, or venues to host meetups. If you want to co-organize or help shape what this group becomes - including what we focus on and the presentation of the group - you are very welcome to reach out.

By the way, I’m curious: what are some similar groups in Oslo that you enjoy attending?

We don’t have a scheduled event yet, as I’m waiting for a few more members to join so we can find a date that works for everyone. In the meantime, feel free to join the group and send me a message to say hi and share what topics you’re most excited about!

Here are some suggestions about things we could dive into:

  • The Enlightenment heritage: strengthening the values and institutions that have created the relative abundance we enjoy today - liberal democracy, science, rule of law, universal morality/empathy, international collaboration, etc
  • Pragmatic win-win solutions across the political spectrum
  • Economic productivity and competitiveness: instead of "managed decline" we can unleash the productive potential of our economies - growing the base of the welfare state; creating a better climate for our startups and scaleups, deepening the European single market
  • Industrial capacity: building an amazing "electro-state", strengthening European supply chains and regional security, taking full advantage of the emerging physical AI revolution
  • AI: exploring the vast opportunities offered by abundant intelligence, help shape global AI governance/safety standards, boosting the Norwegian and European AI ecosystems, UBI
  • Clean energy: scaling massive amounts of affordable clean energy to power all kinds of cool stuff like the AI revolution, while combatting climate change
  • Housing abundance: Could we find ways to build a lot more new housing to make housing much more affordable in Oslo and beyond?
  • “Eco-modernism”: Using technology to grow the economy while boosting the abundance of nature
  • Animal welfare: through empathy and technology making the world a better place for both humans and non-human animals
  • Space: unlocking the opportunities of space: exploration, energy, resources, etc; European space sector, Andøya Space, the Artemis program
  • Leveraging Norwegian offshore knowhow to generate ocean/maritime based abundance solutions for Norway, Europe and beyond: wind and wave power, low/no suffering aquaculture, etc
  • State capacity and governance: building the institutions to deliver on ambitious goals - from housing and energy to AI governance.
