What is Scrum? The Essence, Not the Ceremony
Details
In the first half of 2026 we are taking it back to the basics! We have a whole series planned for those that want a refresher or just getting started.
In Feb we are pleased to be joined by Mark Summers. Interesting fact, Mark was one of Helen's major influences and taught her all about Scrum and Agile in 2008.
What is Scrum? The Essence, Not the Ceremony
Scrum is one of the most widely-used agile frameworks and also one of the most misunderstood. In this interactive session, we’ll cut through “Scrum-ish” habits and get back to what Scrum really is: a lightweight system for continuously delivering value, reducing risk and learning.
You’ll take part in a hands-on exercise to spot what Scrum is, and what it isn’t. We’ll map Scrum in a simple visual model (so you can explain it clearly to others), then finish with a coach-level quiz that focuses on the heart of Scrum: the accountabilities, goals, and the feedback loops that make it work.
Whether you’re brand new to Scrum or you’ve been around it for years, you’ll leave with sharper language, clearer mental models, and practical coaching moves you can use immediately.
