An overview of the key features of Spark will be illustrated through live demos of practical data science use cases. Also, discussed will be the areas for further improvement to make scalable data science even more accessible.

Satyendra Rana, PhD

Dr. Satyendra Rana is the founding co-director of the Big Data & Business Analytics Group at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan and organizes an annual symposium to discuss topical issues in Big Data & Business Analysis. Dr. Rana is also the CTO of a newly founded company Loven Systems focused on research & development in the big data analytics space. Loven Systems is currently developing an innovative platform based on a cognitive foundation integrating machine learning, semantic technologies, optimization, and data visualization techniques in a unified framework. The platform is being implemented using distributed actor-based reactive architecture leveraging Apache Spark computing engine.
