A common assertion when discussing religious labels is that one can't prove a negative, and therefore one can't prove 100% that no gods exists. Of course, one can't look in every corner of the universe to be sure no gods are lurking there, so one can never be completely sure, and every self-respecting scientist must be open to changing their position if new evidence for a god suddenly appeared. This conclusion often makes non-believers concede that they must call themselves agnostic instead atheist, even if they don't really believe in any god. This presentation discusses in what circumstances one CAN prove a negative, and what this means for religious labels.
