Social prescribing and Happiness

Details

Social prescribing - is a way of addressing people's health needs by encouraging them to go to the gym, come to AfH, and undertake many activities that are not traditional drug-based solutions. nhs It takes a holistic approach to people’s health and wellbeing. Two workers involved with Social Prescription will speak, and we will discuss how AfH could become involved. Rachel Friggens works locally and is familiar with opportunities in the Brighton and Hove area. Esther Watts works for the National Academy for Social Prescribing, supporting voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector organisations to understand and engage with social prescribing. Esther says: "If you think of social prescribers as travel agents in the local community, my work is to support the providers of the ‘holidays’ ".

This is our regular meeting in the Latest Bar, on the first Tuesday of each month. We provide ideas and information on the science of happiness. Aftwerwards you can contemplate this with yourself, then discuss with a few others, and maybe in the whole room. An opportunity to discover new ways of increasing the happiness of yourself and those around you. We will appreciate a donation of £5 if you can; if this is difficult or you, less is acceptable. Please bring CASH!
