Morning Hike and Picnic @ Chickakoo Lake

Join us for a hilly hike around several lakes!

This moderate hike is about 7 km. We hike on wide trails that might include ice or mud, exposed roots and steep hills, so a reasonable level of fitness is required. We take some breaks along the way mainly to take pictures!

At about the halfway point, we will stop for a picnic lunch. Bring your own bagged lunch or snacks and beverage, optional trekking poles, warm layers and water. If you have a small thermos, a hot beverage is pleasant at the picnic stop.

Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area is north of Stony Plain and can be accessed by going north of Highway 16 on Highway 779. Next, find Township Road 534, and head west. Follow the signs into the park. We will meet at the last (upper) parking lot near the little book library, NOT at the lower parking lot.

Dogs and guests are welcome. We walk in trails that are shared with others so each participant is responsible for taking precautions. Please respect all rules and stay home if you are feeling unwell.

What to bring:
Hiking boots or shoes, layered clothing, hat, sunscreen, bugspray, water, healthy snacks, optional trekking poles, and your fabulous personality!!
Reminder
To check out our events, newcomers pay a fee of $10, with 5 free events and $2 thereafter. All current members and guests pay a drop-in fee of $2 per event per person. An annual pass of $30 is available and expires one year from payment date. That amounts to $2.50 per month!! We have a milestone challenge with a free lifetime membership after attending 100+ events!

Please note that all outdoor events are dependent on weather conditions. Check back at least one or two hours prior to the event in case of weather-related cancellations.
