Seafair Indian Days Powwow, Discovery Park

Details
This is the 36th year for the United Indians of All Tribes' powwow near Daybreak Star Cultural Center in Discovery Park! Have you ever gone to experience some of the traditions of the native peoples of our region? Features of all powwows are ceremonial dancing in each tribe's regalia, arts and crafts booths, and food booths.
With any luck, this year more people will be able to travel from other states in the Northwest. In past years tribes from nations in Alaska to the north to Montana to the east and New Mexico to the south participated. Some of the handmade regalia people wear are real works of art including abalone buttons, shells, wood carved masks, felting, feathers, fur, fringes, bells formed from cans, beading and more.
Here is a schedule of events: https://unitedindians.org/seafairpowwow/seafair-powwow-2025/ [page down about half way.] They will be running a shuttle from parking lots 2 and 3 and the North parking to the entrance if lots are full. There is a Magnolia bus route that arrives at stops not far from Daybreak Star, as well. Entry is by donation [$10 up, please]
Ideally, I'd like us to meet at the NW end of the North Parking Lot at Discovery Park beside the roadway/path, near the entry booth, go in and peruse the craft booths, see some of the dancing around noon, check out food available, go into Daybreak Star to view items inside then head up to the park for a bit of a hike through the trees as we hear drumbeats in the background. I've scheduled a wide time window to allow time for as much as we want to do in a day, with no obligation to stay the entire time nor, of course, to leave by the time posted. Please plan to arrive early so we can start out by around 11 AM. Please bring plenty of water, sunscreen, brimmed hat, food or cash for some [as well as crafts,] and an open mind ready to learn.
Here are two quite different "homework" articles about the traditions and how non-native observers can honor them at events. [https://unitedindians.org/frequently-asked-questions-2/ ](https://unitedindians.org/frequently-asked-questions-2/) [please at least skim each category.] & https://thewalkingtourists.com/10-things-to-know-about-attending-a-powwow/ Please take time to look at both before going so there are no faux pas, particularly "Seafair Powwow Code of Conduct."
I will message all who RSVP prior to the event with 'where to meet' contact details. Sorry for the late posting of this event. Life's been busy. If you cannot go to this powwow I hope to schedule a different one on the Kitsap peninsula in August.
