Adelaide Neurodivergent Hobby Circle

This hobby group is aimed at neurodivergent women, trans women, non binary folk, and people who use she/they pronouns, who wish to engage in their own individual hobbies or special interests in a safe and accepting environment with likeminded people. It is particularly aimed at late diagnosed people (i.e. diagnosed in adulthood) who live independently with ADHD, Autism, AuDHD, or other neurodivergent identities. Self-identified neurodivergent folk are also welcome.

This is a hobby circle group: bring your own hobby or special interest items to engage with while in the company of others. This might include: drawing, crafts, knitting, sewing, Lego, origami, games, puzzles, laptop work, study, journaling, colouring books, or other activities. Enjoy a chat with other members or feel free to wear your noise cancelling headphones and work quietly in the presence of others.

This hobby circle is a low-pressure social group. It is an opportunity to make friends with neurodivergent people with similar lived experience. But there will be no pressure to ‘socialise’. It is a safe space to just be your neurodivergent self while doing an activity you enjoy in an accepting environment

The group will meet approximately once a month in a community centre in the Adelaide CBD for 2 hours on a Saturday afternoon. There are photos of the location in the photo album called 'Location Photos'. If you cannot see the photo albums on your Meetup app on your phone try logging into the Meetup website on your computer.

We will also occasionally go on outings to art galleries, museums, cultural and arts events, other social events, and have picnics and walks in nature. Please feel free to make any suggestions of outings and activities to the group organiser Naomi.

I founded this group about a year after I was diagnosed AuDHD as an adult. In embracing my neurodivergent identity it was important to connect with people who had similar lived experience to me. I created this group to fill a niche and create a supportive community. If you are curious I'd encourage you to come along or send me a message with any questions. Happy hobbying!

These can be found in a photo album which can be viewed on MeetUp. If you cannot view this folder using the Meetup app on your phone please login to the Meetup website on your laptop. New attendees will be required to read the group norms and agree to them at their first event.

This group is not for cis-gender men (i.e. men who were assigned male at birth and identify as male) or folks who use he / him pronouns. It is for people who share similar lived experience as being neurodivergent women, trans-women, or non-binary (using she and / or they pronouns). Thanks for your understanding.

If you wish to bring a friend, family member, or partner they should also meet the membership criteria and also ideally join the Meetup group.
