π€ Talks:
Monorepo - To use Versioned Packages or Local References
When you're working in a mono-repo, is it better or worse to refer to packages locally... I.e. Should import { someFunction } from '@vandebron/package-a' come from the packages/package-a directory or should it come from a versioned npm or GitHub registry? I have a strong preference to publish packages to registries and pull the versioned package as a dependency but there are definitely cons as well. I'll give a demo of the two different setups and try to make it as empirical/measurable as possible (by showing things like a breaking change and getting metrics on things like bundling time).
Speaker: John Fisher, Frontend developer with a background in a number of backend languages. Currently working with React and React Native as a Staff Engineer with Vandebron. He enjoys running, cycling, and bouldering. You can find him on the weekend walking through Oud-West with his dog, RrugΓ« who is probably searching for food scraps on the ground.
