Join us for a series of short 5-10 minute presentations from a focused group of creators in the world of AR, immersive experiences, games, theater and public space.
Speakers:
Alex Fleetwood (http://alexfleetwood.com/) is a game designer & entrepreneur who founded and ran the design studio Hide&Seek (http://hideandseek.net/) from 2006 – 2013. He is working on a new physical / digital hybrid game called Fabulous Beasts (http://alexfleetwood.com/2014/10/fabulous-beasts/). Alex is talking about the work that Watershed are doing to develop an international Playable City Network (http://www.watershed.co.uk/playablecity/), and how you can get involved.
Jeff MacPherson (https://twitter.com/drtiki) and Ryan Chapman (http://austin2015.sched.org/speaker/ryanchapmansx2015) are the Story Director and President of RocketChicken Interactive (http://www.rocketchicken.com/). RocketChicken built the award-winning location-aware game CodeRunner (http://www.coderunnergame.com/), and are currently building its multiplayer sequel CodeRunners (http://www.coderunnersgame.com/). Jeff and Ryan will discuss building AR games on motive.io (http://motive.io/), their company's new AR games platform.
Holly Gramazio (http://www.hollygramazio.net/) is a game designer interested in site-specific work, and the overlap of games with other cultural forms. As Lead Designer of Hide & Seek, she led the development of 99 Tiny Games (http://hideandseek.net/projects/99-tiny-games/). She's deciding whether to offer us polemics or practicalities.
Dr. Kate Raynes-Goldie (http://www.k4t3.org/) has been making experimental and mixed-platform games since 2007. She is the Founder and Creative Director of Games We Play (http://gamesweplay.com.au), Director of Games and Interactive at FTI and an Adjunct Research Fellow at Curtin University. She will be discussing an educational escape room (http://memori.org.au) she built for the State Library of WA.
Kaho Abe (http://kahoabe.net/) is a game designer and media artist who improves social and personal experiences through technology, fashion and games. Ramsey Nasser (http://nas.sr/) is a software engineer, designer, educator, and Eyebeam (http://eyebeam.org/) fellow who recently made the strap-on combat game Swordfight (http://nas.sr/swordfight/). They will be talking about experimental interfaces.
Location: A private venue in South Park. Come to the entrance of 2 South Park (on 2nd Street near the corner) and someone will let you in.
