Shoals to Hindostan Falls with a stop at Bo-Mac's Drive In

85 and mostly sunny! Let's check out a new (to me) section of the East Fork of the White.

The Plan:

We'll meet at the Shoals boat ramp where we'll unload our gear, run the shuttle, and enjoy an approximate 13.5 mile paddle on a beautiful river. We'll see the usual wildlife that we see on our local streams (Great Blue Heron, eagles, geese, etc.). The East Fork also has many sandbars and islands that offer us many places to get out and enjoy the day and the company. It seems like this area has some rock formations that we don't see on those upper sections that we paddle more often. Many of the upper sections that we've paddled have excellent rockhounding. We'll find out if this one does too ;) We'll have lunch on the river around noon. So bring lunch, snacks, and plenty of fluids.

The takeout site is just above Hindostan Falls. After we take out, we'll head down and walk around the falls. Once we've explored the falls, we'll head back up to Shoals to check out Bo-Mac's Drive In.

For those who would like a little extra to explore in the area, Jug Rock is just up the hill from Shoals. This is a unique rock formation a short distance from the road. It's pretty cool! Also, the town of Hindostan is considered a ghost town. I didn't see a town, but I did see a historical marker that tells a little about the town. It was also the county seat prior to being abandoned.

Afterwards, we'll head to Bo-Mac's Drive In in Shoals for some local food. If you've been on one of my adventures, then you know that I like to try out local restaurants wherever we go. Bo-Mac's is next! Come on out!

The event fee for this adventure will be $25/person. Rentals for solo kayaks are $60 and tandems are $100. Send me a message if you need a rental.

There is little to NO OVERHEAD COVER! Please be prepared with hat, sunblock, and/or umbrella.

This paddle is OVER 13 MILES. We'll have current, but we'll also have to paddle through miles of slower sections. Please know your ability. If you have any questions, please ask.
