The Hike:
We’ll begin near Penshurst Place, a grand 14th-century manor once used by King Henry VIII, before following tranquil trails with wide Wealden views and charming hamlets. Midway, we’ll pause in Chiddingstone Village, often described as the best-preserved Tudor village in Kent. With its timber-framed houses, 15th-century inn, and the mysterious Chiding Stone, it’s the perfect spot for a snack or coffee stop.
The route also passes the romantic Chiddingstone Castle, surrounded by gardens and lakes. It’s a varied, rewarding route – mostly gentle with a few short hills that add a touch of challenge – ideal for women who enjoy beautiful countryside, history, and good company.
