About the Walk:
This circular 10.5 km route combines open farmland, woodland trails, and the charming Welwyn Heritage Walk — perfect for a winter’s day out with good company.

We’ll begin with gentle hills offering lovely views across the Mimram Valley before heading through Danesbury Park to visit its beautifully restored Victorian Fernery, a hidden oasis of ferns, stonework, and woodland paths.

From there, we’ll wander into the historic heart of Welwyn village, following the heritage trail that reveals centuries of fascinating stories:
- The Wellington Pub, dating back to the 1300s
- St Mary’s Church, with roots in the 12th century
- Ivy Cottage and Rose Cottage, once home to Vincent Van Gogh’s sister
- The medieval Old Church House and Old Rectory, former manorial and community buildings
- The elegant Georgian terraces of Prospect Place
- The White Hart Hotel, once a bustling coaching inn serving 80 teams of horses a day

We’ll end our walk back in the village for a relaxed drink or bite to eat at a local pub (optional, not included in the price).

- Our walks go ahead in all weather, so dress appropriately. Always carry a waterproof jacket.
- Check the forecast and bring sun cream, a hat, or sunglasses for warm days, and waterproofs, a warm hat, and gloves for cold or wet days.
- Wear trousers or leggings to reduce the risk of tick bites and nettle stings. Avoid denim or cotton.
- Sturdy walking shoes or boots are essential. Open-toe shoes are unsuitable.
- Bring at least 1.5 litres of water, lunch, and snacks, as there may be no opportunities to buy food or drinks along the route.
