Glover Archbold & Rock Creek Parks Hike

Meeting time: 12 Noon

Meeting place: Tenleytown Metro Station, east side of Wisconsin Avenue in front of the Panera Bread

We will enter Glover Archbold Park at the trailhead on Van Ness Street and head south on dirt trails. About a mile in we’ll turn east on the surprisingly rugged Whitehaven Park Trail. We’ll cross Wisconsin Avenue and stop at Trader Joes for a bathroom/food break. Then we'll continue east towards Rock Creek Park, passing through Dumbarton Oaks Park.

Once we enter Rock Creek Park, we'll take its eponymous trail northbound until we reach the exercise courts area, where the trail will become asphalt. We'll continue to Peirce Mill, where we will have bathrooms & a possible lunch break. Our final leg will take us to the Soapstone Valley Trail, which we'll follow west to end up on Connecticut Avenue, very close to the Van Ness Metro Station. We should finish very roughly around 3:30 p.m.

Happy hour option at Fabia Trabocchi Sfoglina restaurant (4445 Connecticut Ave NW/sfoglinapasta.com) that runs until 6 p.m.

Hike length: about 7 1/2 miles, with moderate elevation changes en route.

The only cost is the $5 Adventuring trip fee, cash or Venmo. The trip leader will cover this fee for any financially challenged Adventurers.
