[Update 10/1: This hike will occur as originally scheduled.]
(Rescheduled from June and September due to rain)

For this hiking adventure, we'll return the American Chestnut Land Trust located near Prince Frederick, Maryland on the western shores of the Chesapeake Bay. We'll make the most of the three-day weekend and traverse the upland forests, wetland and marshes of the watershed that support populations of several uncommon plant species and provide a home to several species of Forest Interior Dwelling [bird] Species.

Our approximately 9-mile out-and-back moderate hike traverses the ACLT via the PF2Bay Trail. The coolest part of the journey will be crossing Parkers Creek on a raft! Ahoy! We'll lunch along the shores of Parkers Creek. This hike has a cumulative elevation gain of approximately 1100 feet, with the trail either going up or down by 50 feet for most of the hike.

We will meet at the New Carrollton Metro at 9 AM to form carpools and gather just outside the lower entrance near the faregates. Please allow extra time to navigate the station, since the station configuration has recently changed (again!) and there's many construction projects afoot.

Bring water, snacks, lunch, bug spray, sunscreen, sturdy footwear. We'll make a Wawa pit stop to pick up lunch or any last-minute snacking needs. Trip fees should be about $11 ($6 for gas reimbursement, $5 Adventuring fee). RSVPs will close at 7pm the day before the event.

Just a quick reminder that it's October and that means bow hunting season has started and is allowed on part of the land we'll pass through during our hike; Therefore, it's suggested to wear bright colors (orange and red are especially good!) and avoid earth tones (browns, dark greens).
