Loch Raven Resevior: Merrymans Trail

Dress in layers for this late November hike just north of Baltimore at the Loch Raven Resevior as we meandor an easy and kind of challenging moderate 5.5 miles on the Merrymans Trail.

The first part of the trail follows closely with the lake and allows us to hike right on the shore. But this scenic tranquility soon turns into an adventure hike with single tracking right above the lake that REQUIRES hiking boots to keep from sliding, especially with the slippery leaves on the path. You need to be able to climb over and maneuver between large fallen trees.
Eventually we'll get to wider, more walkable trails to ease our way through the dense woods.

Our trip fee is $5, plus a $5 mileage reimbursement to drivers (if you participate in a carpool). Due to limited parking at the trailhead, carpooling is encouraged. We will depart from the Greenbelt Metro Station parking lot at 9:00 a.m. There will be a pit stop at the Sheetz in Linthicum Heights on the trip out. For those meeting us at the Merrymans Trail parking lot trailhead, we will be there by 10:10am. (Parking lot, 2583 MD-146, Cockeysville, MD 21030)

For those interested, there is an optional stop by Diamondback Brewing in Timonium afterwards for food and drinks.
