Adkins and Tuckahoe
Details
For this nature walk, we'll head across the Bay Bridge to a treasure of Caroline County, MD. As an often passed over part of the Eastern Shore, Adkins Arboretum and Tuckahoe (pause for giggles) State Park preserve some beautiful natural parts of Maryland that do not include major rivers, bays, or oceans.
We will begin at the Adkins Arboretum Visitor's Center. We will take some of the Arboretum paths before heading south along the Tuckahoe Valley trail. Then, we'll cross over Tuckahoe Creek and head north. After these first 4 miles, we will have lunch at the Tuckahoe State Park Lake Pavilion area. We'll head south again for approximately 1.5 miles and finish our route back at Adkins Arboretum.
The drive will be approximately 70 minutes almost entirely along Highway 50. This 6.3mile nature walk is moderate to easy with very little incline. Come prepared with water, good walking shoes, sun screen, and bug spray.
Bring $5 for the Adventuring fee plus $5 for for your carpool driver.
For those interested, we will stop on Kent Island at The Jetty to sit by the water for some food and beverages on the way back.
