hack night

Details

// make some stuff
Hack nights are a great opportunity to work on a project that you've been putting off or just to get some help with a project you've been banging your head against! We encourage hackers to pair up as well as making mentors and whiteboards available to help you power through challenges.

Around 8:00pm we'll open the floor for anybody that wants to do a lightning talk on the project they've worked on at the event. Unlike our normal Hack and Tells, your project does not need to be complete. Feel free to talk about the goals of the project, the challenges you faced, and anything cool you learned working on it.

// the rules

  • No work-related projects
  • Anything else goes. Hardware, software, giggleware, or any other type of ware. All that matters is that you make something cool.

// interested in attending?
Make sure to read the code of conduct (http://hackandtell.org/#code_of_conduct)!

// schedule
6:00 - 6:30 Snacks, drinks, grab a chair, meet a hacker.
6:30 - 8:00 Pair up with a buddy or just ask somebody for help!
8:00 - 8:30 Tell us about your Hack!
8:30 - 9:00 Linger, ask questions, help fold chairs.

// wait, no work-related projects?
Yeah, let me clarify. I want to promote the projects that people do in their spare time, for fun, or utility. Not the kinds of projects that are only applicable to people who work in your company, or your direct clients. On the other hand, there may be a project that you've built primarily at work that solves a general problem which your company has allowed you to release with a libre license — this is usually fine. If in doubt, just ask, and we'll be happy to guide you.
