Alchemy Lab: A Workshop in Alchemical Psychology
Hosted at The Liberties in San Francisco
WHAT
What happens when you put a stuck feeling through the fire?
This two-hour experiential workshop draws from the deep wells of Jungian and alchemical psychology. You’ll bring a question, emotion, or creative block—something murky, unresolved—and we’ll move it through six archetypal stages: Massa Confusa, Nigredo, Blue, Albedo, Citrinitas, and Rubedo.
Each phase offers prompts, imagery, and poetic inquiry designed to “work” your material without forcing a fix. You might leave with insight. Or a riddle. Or gold.
It’s not group therapy. It’s not a self-help hack.
Think of it more like a collaborative lab experiment for your psyche which combines archetypal imagery, poetic prompts, and guided reflection to “work” your idea in metaphorical heat.
WHY
Modern psychology often overlooks the power of metaphor and symbol.
This workshop is a chance to experiment with imaginal tools—without requiring belief in anything mystical.
Just bring your mind, your curiosity, and something you want to see differently.
What resists analysis may respond to symbol, image, and slow inner heat.
WHERE
We’ll gather in the cozy back room at The Liberties bar, where drinks and small bites are available throughout. You’re welcome to grab something before we begin, and we’ll take short breaks every 30–40 minutes for refills, reflection, and breath. Feel free to stay after to chat, decompress, or let what stirred keep stirring.
WHO
Perfect for skeptics, seekers, creatives, and curious minds.
No prior knowledge of alchemy required—just bring a notebook and something that wants to change shape.
Facilitated by Jordan Muzquiz, a practicing therapist with a background in imaginal pscyhology and a love for paradox, psyche, and symbolic thinking.
