Who: YOU!!

What: We are reading and discussing Percival Everett's book "James". "James", A re-imagining of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the book shifts focus to Jim, who is a slave who runs away when he finds out he is going to be sold and separated from his family. The plan is to somehow get himself free and then find enough money to also free his wife and daughters. He teams up with Huck, who stages his own death to get away from his violent father.

When: May 31st, 12pm MST

Where: The Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library, 2401 Welton St, Denver, CO 80205

Why: We meet to foster community and discuss important issues in the Black community in America and world-wide! Let's join each other and discuss this important book and other book club ideas!

I look forward to discussing this book with y'all and hope that you can make it to our meeting! We may organize a fun activity after the event for us to do, possibly brunch. I'm looking forward to the event. Also, feel free to attend even if you did not read the book or have partially read the book.
