Discussion Time: Chaos or Community?

First of all, Happy New Year!! I don't have to tell y'all that these are ridiculously trying times in the World with no end in sight. I've always wondered how to truly foster community in times like these, where we harness the power of the people to truly thrive. That's what I want to talk about during this "Discussion Time" talk. Let's come together to talk about growing community, collaborating with other groups wanting the same, reconnecting with friends and family locally and globally, etc. Come with your own personal ideas. I'm going to make sure that I have a real agenda for this meeting and we can even talk about personal goals. I know that a lot of people are worried, but fostering community and altruism within our community is, in my opinion, the first step toward healing ALL of humanity.

The book club polls for the months of February, March, April, and May will be released soon as well, maybe on January 17th but possibly before then. Also, in the future, I want you all to send me specific discussion topics that you'd like to explore. The discussion topics can be about ANYTHING and you can either send them to me privately, tell me in person, or write them in on the next poll that will be sent to the group. I look forward to communing with you all.

In between discussions of books that we've read, I like us to meet more frequently to discuss certain issues that we are familiar with as Black, African American or Black Diaspora/African/Caribbean people in the United States and around the world. So I decided to create this series "Discussion Time!" a couple years ago where Black people can join and discuss a particular topic and bring any lived experience that you're willing to share!

For this discussion, all you need to provide is yourself and your experiences (that you're comfortable sharing). All (respectful) views are welcome from your particular Black experience.

I look forward to seeing you all for "Discussion Time!" so that we can connect and have an uplifting conversation!
