Why Does Scrum Fail at Scale?

By now we know several things about Scrum: 1) It's, hands-down the best method for managing a tight group of people who have clear goals, and 2) It just does NOT scale. At all. Why is that? What is is about Scrum that prevents the large-scale adoption across big organizations? Let's look at the strengths, and weaknesses, that prevent this great tool-set from thriving in larger environments, and let's talk about things that can be done to help it overcome those weaknesses.

Lee Allison has been a full-time, professional agilist for 10 years, starting as a newly certified CSM and working up to his most recent position as an Enterprise Agile Coach with Netspend. Along the way Lee has always been a leader in improving any part of the organization that will make team member’s lives better, and genuinely believes that agile values and principles are the key to a successful implementation. He lives in Kyle, TX with his gorgeous lady, a bright red Jeep and 18 flourishing tomato plants.
