Session Title:
The Path to AGI Is Not What You Think It Is

Abstract:
This talk will describe how the open-source non-profit Thousand Brains Project is reverse-engineering the neocortex to revolutionize AI.

We identified several core neocortical principles that guide our architecture design. These principles are fundamentally different from those used by current AI systems.

The talk will provide an overview of these principles and explain how intelligence is derived from sensorimotor learning, reference frames, and modularity. Then, the talk will examine future applications and current capabilities, highlighting major milestones that offer engineering and product opportunities.

Speaker: Tristan Slominski, Principal Engineer
Tristan Slominski is experienced in software and product. He's a veteran and a former aviator. He worked in multiple small Austin startups, as well as Bazaarvoice and Indeed. His last project was Mapkeep, a tool for visualizing and managing strategy. These days, he works on designing, building, and operating current and future Thousand Brains Systems.
