Session Title:
Context Engineering in Practice: The Open-Source AI System I Built to Run My Job Search

Abstract:
Career OS is an LLM-agnostic, open-source career operating system I built after Meta laid me off in March 2026, when three weeks of applications — many carrying internal referrals — produced nothing.

It holds my entire career record in plain files and turns it into applications, outreach, and interview prep. Six months in, twenty-one applications carrying a referral produced four screens, thirteen cold applications produced none, and the contract role I'm in now came out of a conversation the system told me to prioritize. I published the repo in August 2026.

This talk is the field report — what it is, what it cost, and my biggest takeaways:
- Compound your gains by turning a writing problem into a selection problem
- The biggest impact wasn't output quality or velocity — it was the emotional weight it took off a search
- The component with the highest return is the one you haven't identified as a gap
- Building with AI, you won't feel a wrong direction the way you would on your own — by hand I'd have known the structure was wrong by step three, and I got to step fourteen

Speaker: Benjamin Nourse Miller

Benjamin has spent 15+ years building and scaling digital products across games, film, and emerging tech — at startups, Hollywood studios, AAA game studios, and big tech. Until March, he ran Store Operations for Meta's Horizon Store, leading a team that supported 300+ external developers across 700+ releases a year. Most of his career has been zero-to-one work: employee #3 at VR studio WEVR, where he helped scale a four-person startup into a $25M-funded VR production studio, and Director of VR Production at 20th Century Fox, where he built their VR studio and publishing pipeline from the ground up. Across it all he has shipped 40+ projects ranging from AAA console games to mobile AR experiences for The Chainsmokers to digital marketing campaigns for film festivals. He's now Head of Publishing at Supernatural on a part-time contract.
