"Distracted Development":

As Humans we are programmed to do one task at a time, so why do we continually find ourselves trying multiple things at once? We are going to spend some time exploring how the Human Mind is hardwired, the impacts that attempting to multi-task can have on trivial tasks and how it relates to the work we all do.

Before Our Session there a few questions to ponder:
-How many times have you started planning work on something only to have the direction changed?
-Does the other work disappear or is it just temporarily put to side while you work on your new “top” priority?
-How many top priorities can there be?

What to Expect:
Josh is going to go with us down an immersive journey visualizing commonalities that most if not all have experienced.
Through the experience disasters of Distracted Development & Multi-Tasking will be brought to the forefront.

Together tools will be explored to help you to stop “Distracted Development” in its tracks and be able to explain to others why it’s important to have a singular task focused mindset.

Before we get there though you may be asking, why does this matter?
Unfortunately, Josh wouldn’t be walking the talk if he didn’t prioritize topics of discussion and that will have to be one for another day...

You don’t need any specific training or complex understanding of development to participate and even use the exercises and immersive journey exploration yourself.

About your speaker:
Josh is currently serving as a Scrum Master VI @ Fidelity Investments.
He is a Principal Agilist, Coach, & Consultant of Ethereal Agile an organization that is designed support the efforts in having a positive impact on the world. Proud member of the Agile Moose Herd and a Banana Masters for Life. Spent over a decade in the non-profit space Walking the Talk of Servant Leadership. Has a passion to redefine the “Masculine” Leader and the art of Management. Deeply rooted in Duality, with a focus on Serving. Josh coaches & develops “systems”. Effectively emphasizing communication and trust so the “systems” can do what most think is impossible. Helps to shift Agreement to Alignment. Passionate about our understanding of the connection between purpose and performance at work, and how Agile can be harnesses to accelerate a “systems” growth. Empowers co-creation for those with the desire to lead with a servant heart and find balance in their life. Josh holds Specializations from Wharton University in Personal & Professional Success and UC Boulder in Organizational Leadership. ORSC trained and ICF certified Coach, holding over 2 dozen certifications in: Scrum, Kanban, Lean, DevOps, Six Sigma, Kaizen, XP, Agile Leadership, and Coaching. When not coaching business “systems”, spends time soaking in every available moment with the family “system” as a father to Noah and partner to his wife Jen.
