Welcome to Sheffield debate group! We are a community of curious minds, free thinkers, and casual debaters who want to explore diverse perspectives.
Our goal is simple: to dive into the most fascinating topics of our time—from philosophy and current events to pop culture and ethics—while practicing the lost art of civil discourse.
We don't gather to "win" arguments. We gather to understand each other better, challenge our own assumptions, and get to the fundamental truth—or truths—of any given topic.
All viewpoints are welcome here, provided they are expressed respectfully and backed by reason.
No formal debate experience required. Grab a drink, pull up a chair, and join the conversation.
How It Works:
Each meetup centers around a set of open-ended questions provided and voted for by members posting or liking questions in the event comments. We will work down as many questions as we can starting with the most voted for question.
Everyone gets a chance to speak if they wish as we go around in a circle.
The Golden Rule: Attack the idea, never the person. At the end of the night, we either come to a shared perspective or we agree to disagree.
