About us
We're a small, intentional book club for people who want to think seriously about AI, not just use it. We read books that ask hard questions about technology, values, and what kind of future we're building, then meet in person on Saturday afternoons in Downtown San Jose to talk about them.
No CS degree required. Genuine curiosity is the only prerequisite.
We're looking for engineers, ethicists, skeptics, optimists, and everyone in between.
Our first book is Brian Christian's The Alignment Problem.

If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies by Yudkowsky

Our next reading session will focus on If Anyone Builds It, Everyone Dies by Eliezer Yudkowsky and Nate Soares. We will specifically evaluate their arguments on existential threats and loss of control posed by Artificial Intelligence. You will find the reading PDFs in the comment section.
For each reading discussion, I'll spend first 15 min introducing the main frameworks of the book, followed by a Q&A discussion and freeform discussion based on the topic that interested you the most. In this case, we can dive deeper into the book and really hammer down the big questions.
