Innovations in ddPCR and Genomic Analytics (S1E3)
Details
Join us for the next EPPIC Meetup, where we explore the convergence of molecular diagnostics and AI-driven data platforms shaping the future of precision medicine. This event will spotlight two transformative applications: one in droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) and the other in multimodal data analysis for generative AI applications.
Whether you're a molecular biologist, data scientist, or healthcare innovator, this is the perfect opportunity to connect, learn, and be inspired.

## 1. Molecular Precision Meets Machine Intelligence: The Future of ddPCR
Speaker: Dr. Séverine Margeridon, PhD, PMP
Title: Associate Director, Assay Development, Molecular Diagnostics
Organization: Bio-Rad Laboratories
Dr. Margeridon will delve into the integration of droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) with machine intelligence to enhance molecular diagnostics. She will discuss recent advancements in high-multiplex methylation-sensitive ddPCR assays, particularly for non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT). These innovations aim to improve the accuracy and efficiency of fetal fraction estimation in cell-free DNA (cfDNA) samples, offering a faster and more cost-effective alternative to traditional methods.
### 2. PrimateAI-3D - Primate Genome Aggregation Database
Speaker: Hong Gao, PhD
Title: Associate Principal Bioinformatics Scientist
Organization: Illumina
Dr. Gao will talk about the Primate Genome Aggregation Database, a publicly available resource cataloguing ~4.3 million common missense variants across 233 non‑human primate species—over 50× the size of ClinVar’s benign variant set. These primate-derived variants are confirmed benign in >99% of human cases, providing a powerful filter to distinguish neutral from pathogenic human missense mutations. By integrating this database into PrimateAI‑3D, Illumina’s team enabled a 73% increase in gene–phenotype associations in UK Biobank rare-variant analyses
