RePlay for Kids: Toy Adapting Workshop
Details
Join Akron Women In Tech volunteer with RePlay for Kids Toy Adapting Workshop!
In this workshop, volunteers adapt mainstream, battery-operated toys by placing a switch cable in parallel with the original switch, allowing the toy to be operated by a variety of alternative switches that could be plugged into the cable. We will be shown how to adapt these mainstream, battery-powered toys so that children with disabilities can use them. These adapted toys are then provided, for free, to agencies that work with kids with disabilities.
This event is open to the public and suitable for all skill levels:
- There is no cost to attend.
- Toy adapting is a hands-on activity that involves taking apart a toy and attaching some wires. However, no previous experience is needed.
- No supplies or special equipment is needed, but volunteers will be working with small wires, so feel free to bring reading glasses if you need them.
All attendees will need to **RSVP to Natalie Wardega: Natalie@replayforkids.org**
