Journey to the Heart

Details
Opening our heart empowers others to open theirs, and armouring our heart doesn’t work. Compassion is in our nature; closing our heart will not make us happy. We can dare to be compassionate instead. We can try to protect ourselves against all the suffering and pain in life, but we can’t do it, not really. It’s like trying to cover the world with leather instead of putting on shoes.
If we open our heart our love can be stronger, and we can develop an inner strength that we don’t have now. We can become more patient, wiser, and more motivated to do the work of helping ourselves and others.
Sept 11: How to meditate from the heart
Sept 18: Bringing great meaning to our life
Sept 25: Interconnected in kindness
Oct 2: The supreme benefits of cherishing others
In this series, the teachings will be based on the book, The New Eight Steps to Happiness, which gives a detailed and practical commentary to the revered Mahayana Buddhist poem Eight Verses of Training the Mind, written by Bodhisattva Langri Tangpa (AD 1054-1123). The poem expresses the essential methods for developing universal love and compassion, and does so in a way that has inspired generations of practitioners for almost a thousand years.
