We meet every week or two to practice, learn new rhythms and experience the joy of drumming with like-minded folks. No prior experience necessary. Our facilitator Dan Bernstein will teach the basics of drumming on a djembe, lead us in new rhythms and practice old ones. Participants are encouraged to share what they know. Our goal is to have fun, gain proficiency and enjoy the experience of group drumming. Our late Fall and Winter home is Southgate Elementary School in Loudonville where we meet every 2 weeks. Our Spring and Summer home is The Crossings in Colonie. We also drum at local Farmer's Markets from time to time. At the Crossings you will need a chair. A chair will be provided at Southgate. Let us know if you need a drum. Join us on Facebook as Albany Drum Circle where we will post videos and announcements of community drumming activities. Please join this fun and friendly group.
First class FREE. Dues: $15 to cover a 6-month period (May 1 - October 31, November 1 - April 30). The drop in fee is $5/class for those (members and guests) who just want to attend from time to time. Dues covers our Meetup fee, fee to rent space at the elementary school and repair/replace the musical instruments Dan brings to class.
Please opt to receive e-mail messages on Meetup because that's how Dan will communicate last minute changes in the schedule due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
Important that if you say you will be attending and then cannot that you change your status for the drum circle event.
