Meeting at Langley Mill train station at 10.30, the 10.36 train, taking around 35 minutes, I booked the 17:06 train back!!!! Gives us a good four or so hours to explore the gardens and gallery at your own pace before meeting in one of the cafes for refreshments. For those who may want to sample the early evening there are a couple of later trains every hour or so.

Sheffield city centre has spent the last 20+ years having a revamp from the old city of steel to a rather pleasant space with emphasis on pedestrians, cycles and..... well.... culture!

The Winter Gardens, Millennium Gallery & Square I found to be well worth a visit and can be accomplished easily in an afternoon. They are just an 8 or 9 minute very pleasant walk from the train station and consist of the galleries, winter gardens, cafes and gift shop. Outside in Millennium square there are several eatery chains and a couple of pubs. They are all free entry, but a donation of £5 is suggested at the galleries entrance which is just inside the Winter Garden. Not overly large, they are easily accessible and very walkable.

The Gallery is currently home to a Ruskin (local Victorian artist and writer) exhibition until 30th November as well as a couple of other smaller exhibits displaying the city's industrial and steel heritage.

So there you have it, fancy a little culture while exploring a little bit of one of our near neighbouring cities? Join us for an afternoon of reasonably intelligent company and culture and cheer yourselves on this dreary November Sunday. 😁
