Georgetown: There and back again

Let's go for a hike across the Potomac River to Georgetown and back!

❶ What we'll do:

From the sidewalk in front of McDonald's, across the street from the Rosslyn Metro Station (Moore St side), we'll walk north along Moore St, cut over west a block to N Fort Myer Dr and continue north across the Potomac on the west sidewalk of Key Bridge to M St in Georgetown. Turning left, we'll walk west a block past the old Car Barn and (optionally) ascend the Exorcist Steps to Prospect St NW and walk NW to Healy Hall. From there we'll continue north and east past Volta Labs, Dumbarton Oaks, and Montrose Park to Oak Hill Cemetery, where we'll turn south and walk back downhill to the Old Stone House on M St.
From the Old Stone House we'll continue south to Washington Harbor and turn right to head upstream along the Potomac through Georgetown Waterfront Park before turning right again on Wisconsin Ave NW to return to M St, where we'll head west past City Tavern, Georgetown Market, and the Forest-Marbury House. At Francis Scott Key Memorial Park we'll turn south to recross the Potomac on Key Bridge and return to our starting point in Rosslyn.
The hike is about 5 miles, moderate difficulty, and should take a little over 2 hours. The surface is paved throughout. It's generally uphill from Key Bridge to Oak Hill Cemetery, with the challenging Exorcist Steps along the way, and downhill on the way back.

❷ How to get there: Rosslyn Metro Station is on the Blue and Orange Metro lines at 1850 N. Moore Street, Arlington, VA. There is free parallel parking in the area, but you may have to hunt around a bit. ❸ What to bring: Water, comfy shoes, and your furry friend if desired. (Leashes required. As a reminder, service animals only on the Metro.)

❻ Administrative stuff: Restrooms are located near the meetup point at McDonald's or Panera Bread, at the Georgetown Neighborhood Library, and at the Starbucks in Washington Harbor.
