Let's meet at the new Fredericksburg Visitor Center, check out the colonial-era sites in town, and visit Hugh Mercer's Apothecary Shop for a free tour, music, and refreshments in honor of his 300th birthday!

What we'll do:

  • From the Fredericksburg Visitor Center at 601 Caroline St (new location!), we'll walk to the foot of Chatham Bridge and head downstream along the Rappahannock River to City Dock Park. From there we'll walk west to Hazel Hill, north again along city streets to Kenmore and the Mary Washington Monument, and then back though Old Town to Hugh Mercer's Apothecary Shop, arriving shortly after noon. Make your own way the five blocks south back to the meetup point, or back to wherever you parked.
  • The organized walk is about 4 miles, plus another 0.35 miles back to the Visitor Center after enjoying the birthday celebration at the Apothecary Shop. (Total 4.35 miles.)
  • The surface is mostly sidewalks and gravel/dirt paths, with hills and steps here and there. This is an easy hike.
