Let's meet at the Workhouse Arts Center and hike down to Old Town Occoquan to enjoy the RiverFest & Craft Show! Spend as much time as you like enjoying the festival, then walk back or ride the shuttle bus back!

What we'll do:

  • From the Workhouse Arts Center, we'll walk south and downhill about 1.3 miles along VA-123/Ox Road and cross the footbridge over the Occoquan River to River Mill Park in Old Town Occoquan.
  • After a pit stop as needed, we will do a 0.2 mile loop around River Mill Park, followed by a 0.7 mile loop along Mill and Commerce streets, checking out the many vendors and attractions along our way.
  • Arriving back at River Mill Park, attendees have two options: (1) Retrace their steps uphill along VA-123/Ox Road (it's 1.3 miles with 236 feet of elevation gain; moderate difficulty), or (2) Walk southeast 0.4 miles along Mill St to the VDOT parking lot and ride the Yellow shuttle back to the Workhouse Arts Center. The bus ride costs $10; you can buy a ticket in advance or pay in cash at the bus.
  • The total walk is about 3 miles if you ride the shuttle bus back, or not quite 4.5 miles if you walk back. The surface is mostly paved with some stretches of dirt pathways here and there.
