About us
The Alliance Française de Seattle is a dynamic educational and cultural 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, whose mission is to promote the French language and Francophone cultures through diverse programs in the Puget Sound area. It is part of an international network of Alliances Françaises—832 in 131 countries, and 105 of them in the USA alone.
AFSeattle offers French language classes and free community events for all ages and levels, with certified French as a Foreign Language instructors. It is open to everyone, whether you have studied French before or are just exploring an interest. Community events include, happy hours, lectures, screenings, workshops, book launches, culinary experiences and more.

Join us for a special event with French eyewear brand Anne & Valentin in partnership with local nonprofit literary arts organization Hugo House!
Through the Lens of Anne & Valentin will explore the key inspirations of Anne & Valentin's eyewear design, including literature, visual art, and architecture.
Discover some of the brand muses behind the frames such as French novelist and polymath, Boris Vian, whose work will be featured through bilingual readings of extracts from his writings. The presentation will also cover the breadth of other influences on the frames including Ukrainian-born artist Sonia Delaunay, French artist Camille Walala, and the architecture of the Centre Pompidou.Stay after the presentation for a short reception where you can try on lenses and ask questions about the inspirations.
Join us to celebrate the enduring role of literature and other forms of art on the frames offered by Anne & Valentin.

Obec Brewing, 1144 Northwest 52nd Street, Seattle, WA, USJoin AFSeattle's Happy Hour to connect with our community and practice your French!
From 5pm to 7pm, our instructor will host a casual discussion in French (and English when needed). Enjoy socializing in French in a relaxed atmosphere!- To join the event, please RSVP on our website and include your (approximate) French level. Spaces are limited, so please only RSVP if you plan to attend.
- Participation is free; attendees must purchase their own drinks.
- Meet the group at Obec Brewing (1144 NW 52nd St, Seattle, WA 98107) between 5pm - 7pm. The side room will be reserved for our group.
- Obec typically offers beer on tap, wine by the glass, and ciders on their menu.
- Please note that Obec Brewing is a 21+ taproom.

Explore the luminous and expressive world of watercolor, a medium beloved by Impressionist painters for its ability to capture light, atmosphere, and everyday beauty.
This event will be led en français by painter and longtime AFSeattle student Jamie Rawding, who will guide you through your own botanical-themed artwork, offering you the opportunity to paint the scenes that inspire you. As you sip wine and paint your favorite flora and fauna, you will learn essential watercolor techniques and a bit of French along the way.
Audience: Ages 21+
Level: French A2+ recommended, no art experience needed
