Leave OC by 1am Friday to get to Kernville on time. Cannell requires you to be well rested and on your A-game! Better to stay Thursday night in Kernville.
LODGING options: UPDATED 6/11 !!!*
AirBnB: There's still plenty of open spots on Thursday night if you're doing Cannell on Friday, and 1-2 spots left for Friday night if you're rafting. If you want to add on, Thurs is $80 per person, Friday $60, non-refundable.
Pay via Zelle (preferred) or Venmo to 949 636-7855. I don't take PayPal.
If more people add on the cost for everyone will decrease a bit and you will get some $$ back. After the AirBnB fills you are on your own to arrange your lodging .
Motel: Rooms are available at Kernville Inn (preferred) or Kern Lodge. A room with 1 queen or 2 doubles is $130 taxes included. Rooms at that rate are starting to book up. Don't wait too long to book; they both have good cancellation policies.
RV campsite at MRA: (20 minutes north of Kernville where you catch the shuttle) $48/nite, up to 6 people per site/ 2-night minimum.

DIY: Please LMK if you won't need lodging. Thanks if you've already told me you're camping.
Zelle/Venmo payment info above. Email kenish01@gmail.com if you want the AirBnB (for Thurs, Friday, or both), or if you are making your own arrangements.
THANKS!
*********
Cannell is a long, strenuous trail with several techy sections. 27 miles, 2000' climbing, and 4 1/2 hours (for fit advanced riders), starting at 9000' elevation where air is thin (ending at 2700'). It will take a slow group (meaning us) more like 6+ hours. There are a lot of photo ops and rest stops, not a ride to just hammer out and try to PR. The shuttle to the top is ~45 minutes.
We will ride as a group, but we reserve the turn away slow riders unless we can find another "guide" and create a separate slower group. There are several splits, and it is very easy to get lost up there. This ride is one of the best in CA but requires a much higher level of fitness, skills, experience, and self-sufficiency. A bike breakdown that can't be repaired trailside could mean a hike out of 15+ miles and medical help is hours away. Talk to someone who's done Cannell if you have questions or doubts.

You can do this ride only, but why miss out on the rafting and camping? FYI there is a "no raft" option if you want to join the Sat/Sun AMTR fun bu not get wet!
