Hackster & Amazon Present: Alexa Skill Building 101

I’m excited to announce this new meetup group and our first Alexa skills Hackathon, for the very popular Amazon Echo, happening on Saturday June 4th, noon-9pm. We will be building Alexa “Skills” to use with the amazing Echo. Better yet, we will be hosting Liz Myers, who is a Developer Evangelist at Amazon, and will be providing instructionals and assistance for beginners and pros alike. Food will be served during this all day event to keep your designs fueled and your development fed. Amazon will provide swag and prizes for designers and teams with creative and/or original ideas.

Worried that your just a beginner and not much of a coder? Don t be! This Hackathon will be suitable for beginners and pros alike. We have examples and tutorials that will get you up to speed with creating your own amazing voice activated Alexa “Skills” for the Echo – come learn and make new nerdy coder friends! Any experience with JavasScript or Python will be a plus but we have a repository of examples you can simply modify to make your own publishable Alexa Skill. Drop in, bring your laptops, your friends, and plenty of time to hack some uber code and hear what Echo has to say.

Signups are necessary to assure a spot. You can sign up for the Alexa Hackathon at:
