What we’re about

The AmbiLife San Diego Social and Training Group introduces locals to the practice of mirror movement development (MMD). Along with Nutrition and Exercise, MMD is considered the third pillar of longevity. Learn about it at AmbiLife.org

MMD realigns the body, increases balance, brain efficiency, memory recollection, spatial awareness, performance, and more. And the practice is simple. Basically, if you were to video record yourself doing what you normally do throughout the day, then take that video footage and mirror flip it, your goal of MMD would be to learn to do what you see yourself doing in that video – things like throwing with your other arm, kicking with your other foot, reading in mirrored direction, writing with your other hand in mirrored direction, etc.

When you perform MMD activities, blood flows to your opposite brain hemisphere, which creates new neurons, synapsis, makes your corpus callosum thicker, burns more calories, realigns the body, and more. All activities most associated with longevity happen to also be MMD, which include walking, hiking, running, cycling, swimming, and yoga. MMD is also performed when doing mirrored versions of other activities like kickball, football, skateboarding, tennis, surfing, frisbee, reading, writing, and anything else you can learn to do from a less-dominant position.

AmbiLife is open to anyone, from the curious observer to the advanced lifestyle practitioner, and anyone in between.
