The purpose of this training event is to train experienced skiers to teach novice skiers. Mary MacDonald is coordinating Learn-to-Ski events at Weston Ski Track on February 8, 19, and 26. You need to volunteer to teach at one or more of those. Our instructor will be Mark Jacobson, Weston Ski Track manager.
We will gather in the cafe/retail shop (they aren't selling food) beginning at 6pm... for pizza* and socializing. On snow training with Mark will begin promptly at 7pm. Lights off is 9pm.
Goal of the evening is for you to gain confidence in your ability to get a never-before-on-skis novice to the point where they know the basics of cross-country skiing within 90 minutes... all while having fun and exuding positive energy!
Mark will take us through a teaching progression, which will be shared afterwards by email. The rain date for this event is Thursday, January 15, with the same instructor.
Leader Bio Mary E MacDonald 978-887-4202 (best time to call: Text is best. If Voicemail, you may expect a return call within 24-72 hrs.) Mary is a native of Syracuse, NY. She learned classic xc skiing on the Tug Hill Plateau. She's excited to teach beginners classic and skate styles. She's learning more about telemark and backcountry skiing. She also leads wheelchair-friendly "Walk & Wheel" AMC trips North of Boston.
