Description: This trip will be a mix of flat touring, steady climbing and a fun wide downhill where you can practice your turns. Pine Mt (2382') is located at the north end of Pinkham Notch off the Pinkham B Rd. There is a gravel road (lightly snowmobiled) to the Horton Center summer camp very near the summit. From there, the trail to the summit may be skiable but more than likely it will be a walk that is well worth it for the views of the Pinkham Notch with Mt Madison the closest landmark. The vertical gain is less than 1000' and the distance is less than 6 miles. If time permits- the Hayes Copp trail network (from Dolly Copp Campground) has a number of intermediate trails to explore. Backcountry Nordic gear (metal edges) is the appropriate gear for all except advanced skiers, who may enjoy the challenge.
