Description: Please join us for a fun day of Nordic skiing at New Hampshire's fabulous Bretton Woods resort, with Mt. Washington and the northern presidential mountains as a backdrop. Bretton Woods has 101 Km of trails, 57 trails track set for classic skiing when conditions allow. This trip is best suited to intermediate skiers who are comfortable on hills and potentially varying terrain depending on the snowfall and trail conditions. We'll plan a full day with 4-5 hours, 6-10 miles (9.6-16 Km) of skiing, depending on the group and snow conditions. We'll keep a moderate steady pace with a few stops--at least one at the warming hut for snacks, lunch and after 1.5-2 hours. We'll ski on mostly blue trails, accessed by flatter green trails that start at the Nordic Center, with overall elevation gains of 400-700 feet, depending on group preference and our trail route. Trail passes are required. Adult trail day pass is $27 (or $25 if purchased online ahead of time). There's also a Senior rate (65+), $15 (or $13 online ahead of time). Rentals are available--reservations must be completed at least 24 hours ahead via the Nordic Center website ( www.brettonwoods.com/experiences/nordic-ski).
Please Pack your own lunch and nutrient dense snacks--some limited pre-packaged options are available at the Nordic Center and there's a deli with pre-made and made to order sandwiches at the Irving Gas station on Rt 302 West just beyond the Bretton Woods Alpine ski area entrance, about 1/2 mile from the access road to the Nordic Center. Specific meeting location, time and final logistics will be e-mailed to confirmed participants 2-3 days before the event.
If you desire to make it a weekend of skiing, there are many lodging options in nearby Twin Mountain, 45 minutes away in Lincoln and North Woodstock right off Rt 93 and the AMC's Highland Center is a mile away--with appropriate snow conditions, you can ski to it from Bretton Woods trails.
