Description: Do your avalanche rescue skills feel a little rusty after the summer? Join us for an avy beacon search practice this Fall!
We will meet in Merrymount Park in Quincy, MA and divide into search groups. We will (hopefully!) have lots of fallen leaves to use for hiding beacons. Participants should be familiar with using a beacon and the basics of conducting a search. Please contact the leaders if you have any questions.
Please note this is a practice session. This event is not a substitute for an AIARE avalanche rescue course.
Parking & Public Transportation Merrymount Park has ample free parking and is about a half hour walk from the Wollaston or Quincy Center stops on the red line.
Registration In the registration questions, please let us know (1) if you will need to borrow a beacon, and (2) whether you have practiced a beacon search before.
Loaner Beacons A limited number of loaner beacons are available upon request. Please contact the leaders for details.
