Description: This event is invitation only event. The AMC leadership committee of this weekender event has pre-screened applicants and provided this registration link via email to approved participants. If you have not been invited to register via Outdoor Connector and you apply below, you will be rejected from this event and you may not receive a full refund.
Description: Climb, connect, and give back with the AMC community at the third annual BIPOC Rumney Weekender (N'dakinna - land of the Abenaki, Pennacook and Wabanaki Peoples)! This weekend is all about getting BIPOC folks (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) together in the outdoors—whether you're new to climbing or a seasoned climber, there’s a place for you here. All outdoor gear will be provided by Boston Climbing and Mountaineering Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club, a non-profit organization. Personal climbing gear rentals are available at no additional cost.
Schedule of Events: Friday night check in, Saturday climbing day with option for climbing clinics, Saturday community dinner (catered by Thai Smile in Plymouth, NH) and free raffle from donations from local organizations and company supporters! Sunday community breakfast together, option for guided yoga session, cold plunge, volunteer opportunities to give back through land stewardship, local hike of Rattlesnake Mountain, and a variety of additional local activities such as biking, climbing, paddling, swimming, trail running, etc.! This will be a chance to move our bodies, build community, celebrate the beginning of summer, and enjoy the outdoors together! Whether you come alone or with friends, we look forward to seeing you in late June!
*This event will be held rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, clinics offerings may be swapped and/or alternative programming may be held such as indoor climbing, skill building, and community building activities. Organizers will inform you within 48 hours of the event to communicate any changes in programming.
Lodging Options and Costs: Indoor and outdoor options available. $40-120 for two night stay including breakfast and Saturday night dinner (financial assistance available and pay it forward payments accepted). Amenities include compostable toilets and outhouses, community space with couches, tables and chairs, indoor fireplace and large community kitchen. Shower tokens are available for an additional cost.
Transportation: Carpooling is strongly encouraged. Once applications have been reviewed, screened and accepted, an excel spreadsheet will be shared to support arrangement of carpooling, finding climbing partners (if applicable), and making connections prior to the June weekender event.
Registration Deadline: Accepted participants will be notified no later than June 1, 2025 and requested to complete the formal registration process here by June 7, 2025. Waitlist participants will be notified on a rolling basis and prior to June 14, 2025.
Refund/ Cancellation Policy: If you are accepted into the weekender and clinic, but can no longer make it, we ask that you email Maya Jade Duffy as soon as possible so your spot can be offered to an applicant on the waitlist. For any cancellations prior to June 14, 2025, a full refund will be provided. For any cancellations after June 14, 2025, refunds cannot be guaranteed unless there is a waitlist participant able to take your place.  Questions or concerns?
