Description: Join us for a cozy fall weekend in the White Mountains with other hikers in their 20s-40s! We’ll stay at the AMC Highland Center , a beautiful mountain lodge with a crackling fire, music, and great company. You’ll sleep in a bunkhouse , enjoy a hearty dinner and breakfast on Saturday , and breakfast on Sunday morning before we head back out on the trails.
🥾 Hiking Plan We’ll hike nearby 4,000-footers in the White Mountains. Expect strenuous hikes of ~7–12 miles round trip , with elevation gains between 2,400–4,400 ft . Exact hikes will depend on group ability and leader availability , but participants should have prior experience in the last year with Vigorous hikes (over 8mi / over 2000ft elevation gain), be fit and comfortable hiking hard mountain trails all day (6+hours) .
Possible peaks include but not limited to: Mount Pierce Mount Eisenhower Mount Jackson Mount Tom, Field, Willey ✅ What to Bring Hiking: At least 3L of water Lunch and plenty of snacks Sturdy hiking boots (broken in) Layers (synthetic or wool; avoid cotton) Rain gear (jacket + pants recommended) Warm jacket (fleece or puffy for lodge & summit stops) Headlamp (with extra batteries) Backpack (20–35L recommended) Trekking poles (encouraged) Hat and gloves (it gets cold at higher elevations) Overnight & Lodge Comfort
Change of hiking clothes for Saturday and Sunday Travel clothes for Friday arrival & Sunday departure Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, meds, etc.) Sleepwear (comfortable, lodge-appropriate) Earplugs & eye mask (bunkhouse is shared) Camp shoes/slippers (for inside the lodge) Chargers for phone/headlamp batteries Book, games, or favorite trail treat (for lodge downtime) ⚠️ Important Notes Large groups hike slower — plan for full days on trail and to stay with the group. Weather in the Whites changes quickly. Be prepared for wind, rain, and temps near freezing at elevation. We’ll set clear turnaround times to keep the group safe.
