CT Trails Day hike at Timberland Preserve in Guilford

Hike with the CT Appalachian Mountain Club at this beautiful town preserve in Guilford. The route is about 6 miles on woodland trails at a moderate pace (~2 mph). The terrain with some ups and downs (about 500 feet of elevation gain) down to Upper Guilford Lake, over to the Iron Stream cascade (hopefully not dried up) and along the bottom of the gorge. One steep but short scramble uphill out of the gorge. Very short road walk. Some possible muddy areas. Meet at New England Trail entrance on Rte. 80 at 8:45 am for prompt 9:00 am start. Steady Rain cancels. Bring water and a snack - two short snack breaks planned.
