Description: Join our AMC 20s & 30s community for an early evening wander along the mostly undeveloped Lost Lake in the West Woods of Guilford. We'll take the white square trail along the rocky/rugged east shore of Lost Lake and then loop back on the orange circle trail. Plan for a total length of 3 miles, though the loop can be shortened depending on the feel of the group and daylight. The terrain is very rocky and uneven so hiking shoes/boots are highly recommended for this one. A meal/social will likely occur afterwards at a nearby resturaunt. Trail map
Due to limited parking at the trailhead, we may meet in Guilford at the 5:30 start time and then carpool to the trailhead about 5 minutes away (details will be emailed out in advance). We can coordinate if anyone will be arriving from the Shoreline East train that arrives in Guilford at 5:37 or the 201 buses that arrive in Guilford at 5:35/5:39. Registrants can expect an email 2-3 days before with these final details and any other notes. Would like to bring a well-behaved dog? Prefer there not to be a dog on the hike for any reason? Please coordinate with the leader. Rain date: Wed July 1st.
Packing list: Footwear & water for 3 miles of rough terrain Snacks / bug spray / sunscreen as needed
About Founded in 1876, the Appalachian Mountain Club is a non-profit organization that promotes the protection, enjoyment, and understanding of the mountains, forests, waters, and trails of America’s Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. The Connecticut Chapter of AMC is active across the state and organizes about a thousand activities annually. The CT Young Members Committee is geared towards participants in their 20s & 30s, but is open to all. Some goals of the 20s & 30s group is to add more frequent activities and expand into multi-day adventures such as camping trips, hostels, backpacking, and destination trips that really build community and lasting friendships. As long as people keep coming, we'll keep scheduling so we hope you can join us soon!
