Description: Come join our Appalachian Mountain Club 20s/30s community for an 8 to 10 mile hike around Haley Farm and Bluff Point State Parks! We will loop around the two parks on a route similar to this 8.7 mile itinerary, though we may make adjustments as we go. We will start at the Haley Farm parking area (free) and hike about 4-5 miles until we reach Bluff Head Beach where we will have lunch, optionally jump in the ocean for a swim (no life guards), and enjoy the beach for half an hour to an hour depending on the mood of the group. There are no significant hills and only minor elevation change.

New people are always welcome! Registration is requested. Unregistered participants will sign the AMC waiver at the start. Any final notes and weather postponements/cancellations will be emailed to registered participants 1-3 days before. Would like to bring a well-behaved dog? Prefer there not to be a dog on the hike for any reason? Please coordinate with the leader in advance. The end time is just an estimate and depends on the speed of the group and how long we spend at the beach.

What to bring:
Hiking footwear for up to 10 miles on the trail
3+ liters of water
Packed lunch and snacks
Bathing suit if swimming
Bug spray / sunscreen / TP as needed

Directions: Coordinates: 41.3322, -72.0056. We will park and meet at the main Haley Farm State Park parking lot on Haley Farm Lane. If we have a big group, we may have to meet and carpool from nearby Fitch High School. Instructions will be sent out in advance if this happens.

Carpool Survey: It's always great for the environment, comradery, and saving money when we can ride together. If you are interested in offering or accepting a ride, please fill out this questionnaire after registering.

About: Founded in 1876, the Appalachian Mountain Club is a non-profit organization that promotes the protection, enjoyment, and understanding of the mountains, forests, waters, and trails of America’s Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. The word "club" by no means implies exclusivity: AMC is a welcoming community where people of all backgrounds can come together and enjoy the outdoors. The Connecticut Chapter of AMC is active across the state and volunteers organize hundreds of activities annually. The CT Young Members Committee is geared towards participants in their 20s & 30s. Some goals of the 20s & 30s group is to add more frequent activities and expand into multi-day adventures such as camping trips, hostels, backpacking, and destination trips that build community and lasting friendships.
